Garden Pizza and Flowers
We're back in the garden again, now that Lucy's used to hanging out in the yard without causing a fuss. Last week, we washed off the harvested potatoes and some fresh picked tomatoes and made some natty pizzas for dinner. We also had handy some sage derby cheese, fresh goat cheese, thyme, parsley, fresh sage, zucchini, and pepitas (pumpkin seeds), and piled those on as well.
Our dahlias are really coming in - we have several small plants on the deck and some nice-looking plants in the yard too. One plant in particular puts forth giant plate-sized flowers. This one's nearly as big as Grendel!
We should have some teddy bear sunflowers soon - both in the yard near the garage and on the deck in some planters. I fought squirrels for weeks to get those plants large enough to grow, and though we lost a couple to Lucy's runs, we might actually have about 6 downstairs. They'll look great, and they should be big and fuzzy, not unlike that big dahlia.
